Offline Shipping Methods (a.k.a. Custom Shipping Methods)

Aside from real-time shipping calculation, you can also set your store to use Offline Shipping methods which allow you to specify a flat rate that will be charged for shipping - based on ranges that you specify. To add an Offline Shipping Method, use the Left Hand Navigation menu and go to Settings =>Shipping =>Shipping Methods.

Once there, you can add a new shipping method by clicking the "Add New" button at the top right. However, instead of selecting one of the carrier based shipping methods, select one of the four listed "Custom" methods located at the bottom of the list.

These custom methods will allow you to provide ranges for the following parameters:

  • Custom by Quantity
This allows you to specify shipping cost ranges based on the total number of items in the order.
    (i.e. 1 to 5 items = $X shipping, 6 to 10 items = $Y shipping, etc)
  • Custom by Value
Allows you to specify shipping cost ranges based on the total price of the orders.
    (i.e. $0.00 to $5.00 order = $X shipping, $5.01 to $10.00 order = $Y shipping, etc)
  • Custom by Weight
Allows you to specify shipping cost ranges based on the total weight of the orders.
    (i.e. 0.00 to 5.99 lb order = $X shipping, 6.00 to 10.99 lb order = $Y shipping, etc)
  • Custom by Zip
Allows you to enter a range of destination area zip codes that will be charged however much shipping you want if the destination is within the entered zip codes. (i.e. For personal delivery or perhaps "in store pick up" type of options.)

Note: When adding ranges for Value or Weight, be sure to include incremental weights/prices by using decimal values as needed. Ranges for whole numbers like 0 to 5, 6 to 10, may not work for all situations unless there is an incremental value in between. (i.e. 0 to 5.99, 6 to 10, etc)
